So glad we insisted on running him again and attacked any other alternatives!!
To be fair, what were the alternatives? I know some people like DeSantis, and he's done some good stuff, but he's also had some unfortunate run-ins with free speech, and had promised to undo some of the good things Trump did do. DeSantis isn't full on neocon, but there's some crossover. Vivek is great...if you think you can trust him. Haley is, of course, evil. Trump fucked some shit up, no question, but I still think he's the best bet. Which isn't really saying particularly good things about the whole field, to be fair.
A government that does/accomplishes nothing "because Trump!" is a better alternative to a government doing anything because if its not Trump its the Uniparty guy and all they do is accomplish something negative.
To paraphrase (he didn't use those exact terms) he wanted to 'roll back MAGA extremism in the Republican party' or some such. While pushing such 'extremism,' in my opinion, is perhaps the single greatest thing Trump did. Which makes it ironic that DeSantis took shots at Haley by saying "We can't go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear..." in his drop out speech, when that was one of the things he'd basically said he wanted to do.
I hate to use such Trumpy terms but, "Ron isn't MAGA." He gives nods to populism and putting America first - and I do admit he's better than the classic neocon for sure - but it seems to be mostly lip service. No matter how you feel about Trump, I think he had a good impact on the GOP itself, and DeSantis apparently disagrees. I don't want someone who sees the changing Republican party as a bad thing.

WN circles have been discussing that the GOP would attempt to "rock the baby back to sleep" for years. DeSantis emerged as the candidate best equipped to try that. He failed.
