Honestly, her reacting like this is letting her father know the marriage was doomed anyway so the money would be a waste regardless.
Extravagant weddings are meant to be a final large celebration for a till death commitment. When its just a "meh maybe" fling, the need for that large party that involves giving her away to someone's family is just worthless.
It only still exists to sate women's egos. Which is why even the most feminist of feministers will still want the party, even the ones that don't get married and just stay "partners" forever.
I downvote anyone who says partner in any context.
I’m giving you a pass for the quotes, but only barely. There’s nothing more soy than the p word.
I don't disagree, outside of like a school project assignment.
That's why I used it here, because those women are in fact soy with their soybois.
Extravagant weddings used to be only for nobility. Most peasant marriages were akin to common law marriage, where the bride unceremoniously moves in with the groom in exchange for some cows from the bride's father (the dowry).
It hasn't been that way in a long time. These days she's celebrating the fact that she has her claws in his assets and no longer has to bring anything to the relationshit, and the commitment is only until she's able to walk off with all his shit.
