Guess he was never taught the whole “when in Rome” lesson. I speak Spanish due to jobs I’ve had and I’ve met some Hispanics in Texas who had lived here for years and never took the time to learn English
colonizers aren't going to learn the local language, they make you learn theirs. that's why I didn't take Spanish back in high school, "oh but what if you have to deal with Hispanics in your future jobs?" fuck off, jobs that have to deal with no Ingles Mexicans aren't the jobs I'd ever want.
I enjoy learning languages (have some French, Portuguese, Latin, and Italian books because I’d like to learn those eventually since they are close to Spanish) but agree that if you are in someone else’s country then it’s on you to learn the language (when in Rome). If I had to live in Japan or wherever for business you better believe I’d be learning as fast as I could.
