For those who don't know, Go Nagai was one of the biggest and strongest OG pillars of manga (and by extension this affects anime ofc) and influenced a hell of a lot of things.
He's the reason some of your favorite things in anime might exist and especially had a role in ensuring they were popular.
Things like transforming and piloted mecha, sexy girls/eroticism, and copious amounts of violence/weaponry/guns and hot blooded men fighting and demon slaying were all hugely popularized and made massive steps in Japan thanks to him, and his works influenced a hell of a lot of things, a lot without people even realizing it.
If you like things like Persona (really any supernatural high school setting), Transformers, Fist of the North Star/Dragon Ball, almost any mecha at all, magical girls, ecchi/fanservice, he had some part in influencing them all.
He's an absolute legend (and doesn't get nearly the amount of credit he deserves compared to some in the industry) and its horrible this happened.
Holy crap. The museum destruction is bad enough... until you see that everything that was around the building is completely gone. It looks like the city was bombed.
Edit: Apparently that is a really old part of town, with two hundred year-old wood buildings. (some are said to be 1000 years old) The museum is newer and looks like it had a sheet metal frame.

Not to mention Devilman, without which we would never have SMT.
The island nation is no stranger to terrors like this, but it still sucks that this happened. I wish them the best in that regard.
Terrible news. Thoughts and prayers to all in Japan.
I hope there is some way everything lost in this museum can somehow be rebuilt/restored so that this legendary artist's legacy is continued.
Fuck.

Compare the google maps link I just gave you to the photos in the article. Absolutely nuts. That area was demolished.
