Do you know something else that's extremely weird that I've noticed? I was trying to see if there was soundtracks out for some of the latest anime I've been watching. There are these people posting up blatant copies of the anime soundtrack and they don't list it necessarily as their own work thankfully but they at the same time weirdly aggressive about copying it as if they had any ownership over the thing.
Now don't get me wrong, copying fan work and not even crediting is a really scummy thing to do. However at the end of the day it's not your original work and these people in particular were just copying the soundtrack through some composer software. This sort of thing is weirding me out more than anything SJWs have posted these days.
Since we can at least talk about it as well it's calmed down a bit but I noticed that e-begging had been ramped up on pirate sites. One of their claimed costs was seeding servers. Literally nobody told them to do that lol and then they're acting like they're doing everyone a favour.
Yeah there is this weird sense of entitlement they people have where they think that just by modifying someone else's work slightly it's now their own. The worse behavior i see is in the manga and light novel fan translation scene where people seem to hold "claim" over a series to translate (that they don't own rights to) and will get super bitchy if someone "steals" it (probably because it makes them money). Some translators will even post advance chapters on their site or on patreon and then charge money to view it. And then its just machine translated garbage where they didn't even fix any of it to be readable. Then they will leave a story on a cliffhanger chapter deliberately and pretend to be busy to try and bait donations to do the chapter "early" which they then release immediately after as if it was already done beforehand. Sometime in the last 10 years or so, the fan translation scene became commercialized behind the scenes and now its become a scummy illegal business run by a bunch of people who clearly don't speak English. It's become the exact same thing it claims to be against.
Now that explains the weirdness, if it's another overseas scam then I'm less bothered but I was wondering if it was some genuinely stupid people who needed to have somebody sit down with them and slowly explain basic copyright law. If it's just some scummy scam artists trying to pass themselves off as legal then fuck them.
