'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' Director James Wan Reveals He Completely Changed Film's Version Of Karshon, Villain Now A Powerfu...
'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' director James Wan has confirmed that a major change is coming to the film's version of Karshon.
Its amazing.
Aquaman has one of the best black characters in comics period in his gallery. Someone who they already set up half decently in the previous film and can basically be used in any way possible as his only character trait is unrelentingly petty and hateful in his single-minded pursuit of Aquaman.
But that's not enough, they gotta get more woke in.
You mean Black Manta isn't in this?
Fairly certain he is, but reading this has me believe he is once again the secondary antagonist and closer to general nuisance than genuine threat once again.
So she'll now be a "misunderstood villain" that gets redeemed at the very end, right? Because that's what this always ends up being.
Another put a chick in it and make her lame and gay for 2023?
Anthropomorphic characters are useful in demonstrating very specific perspectives or psychological states. A dragon like character is inherently wrathful or greedy. An Orc might be dumb and have a lust for violence. A minotaur might represent stubbornness. So on and so forth.
As such, they must inherently have character. They are, frankly, too simple to be left as a vague and non-descript characters, because they typically draw so much attention for being different that it would be bizarre that they were boring. They are meant to be symbolic of other things. Hence why they are used in children's shows, to show children how to clearly delineate different abstract mental states in their head, which might not be possible with average humans who are highly mentally complex beings that can be interpreted differently at different times (Hitler loved dogs).
Replacing such a character with a strong, empowered, political woman is an eradication of the entire concept of why this character exists, and you should just invent a new one. Assuming the writers aren't retards (they are), this character would have to be subtle, cunning, deceptive, and quite difficult to discern as an enemy. Again, the opposite of literal shark man.
Unless...
Is Karshon a strong empowered fish that don't need no bicycle?
So… no change except less CGI?
