this is not representative of our institutional values
Educating about the birthplace of an important figure in history? Yeah I guess that couldn't be further from the values of an indoctrination institution.
TBF that is, best case scenario, pretty fucking weird to show at a fucking football game even if we didn't see see Hamas try and break his best Jew killing day record.
Like seriously, Charles Manson & Jeffrey Dahmer are historical figures too but it would be weird at a major sporting event to see "This cannibal was born the same day Mauritania became independent of France in what's known as the "Year of Africa". WHAT YEAR WAS IT?"
I don't know, it's what looks like 81 minutes prior to the game. It's some generic trivia they put up there to give people that were going to sit there for a ln hour something to to do. Not like it's something they put up during a timeout in the middle of the game.
Hitler is not "generic" trivia. "Which Friends alum starred in films with Bruce Willis?" is generic trivia, not "This failed children's entertainer murdered over 30 teenage boys and buried them in his crawl space. Can you name this "Killer Clown"?"
I think this is a bad analogy but I'm having trouble putting into words why. I don't think any random infamous murderers (except maybe Jack the Ripper?) are considered "historical figures" on the level of Hitler, the ""legitimate"" leader of Germany at the time. He was responsible for lots of deaths but he wasn't a "serial killer" and there's a lot more taught about him at school, so it's trivia that a lot of people could guess. Pol Pot is much less discussed in North America (referencing your other comment) so questions about him would make less sense.
Anyway if the trivia was about Manson and Dahmer, it would be really strange but somehow I doubt it would make headlines or there would be such an official statement released.
