Rep. Dean Phillips (D., Minn.) told House colleagues that he plans to run for the Democratic presidential nomination, two sources told Politico. A third source who spoke to Phillips told Politico he seemed less resolved, replying, "We’ll see" when asked whether he'll run.
Of course, the first question that comes to mind is "Who?"
In short, he's a very generic "moderate" democrat who, as far as his voting record indicates, goes along with the party position nearly all the time.
One other thing he has going for him is some inherited wealth. He's not Mike Bloomberg rich, but he has one of the highest net worth values in congress. The inheritance comes from a previously big distillery business
In my opinion, he might make for a decent Biden copy, without the family/corruption controversy.
What may be interesting to watch for is if the floodgates open with more democrats wanting to fill in as the puppet figurehead of the country.
A bit risky right now, a lot of the really famous ones they could've counted on are either too tainted nowadays or too smart to get involved at an executive level considering Trump was at their level and they saw what happened to him.
That leaves the mid tier of your Megan Markle, actors, artists etc. They don't stand a chance in hell even after cheating. Because in the debates Trump would annihilate them or they would be starved of attention if Trump is too busy fighting court cases.
I'm not saying 'Trump is 100% going to win' but every decision the Dems have taken this year has been increasing his lead.
You really think there will be debates?
At this point up in the air. The 'use court orders to gag him so he can't rally support' is not only not working, it's having the opposite effect.
There were a few times during debates he slipped up that they might feel it's better to have them to get some 'gotcha' moments to broadcast on repeat (especially if it's not against Biden). They seem desperate enough that it shouldn't be discounted.
