The left-right spectrum in the US is apparently seen as an anomaly among first world countries. I recall predditors say that there is no real major left wing party here.
I don't know that I've ever thought about what gets considered more or less extreme.
Its because most politicians in America still pretend to hold some of those pesky "foundational liberties" as unquestionable, at least out loud.
So the fact that the Libs try to pass "gun control" laws instead of "banning all guns instantly" means the Libs are actually vaguely right wing instead of the "superior" European Left to most Redditors and their ilk.
It's going to be different around the world based on political cultures. All of Europe is considered more left wing but they all have much more restrictive laws on abortion than all of the US during RvW and more restrictive than most states still (France for example bans it under 14 weeks)
