I'm sorry guys, I've been noticing things again. Although this might be somewhat refreshing compared to the usual breadtube shit that we're being subjected to at the moment which I can't stand.
When it comes to my daily spending habits I'm something of a die-hard cheapskate so I'm not fucking myself over by buying unnecessary things but now products seem to be gradually getting worse and worse while somehow maintaining the same prices and shamelessly ripping people off. Now some of it is just them being cheapskates, but when it comes to the packaging of food in particular I keep noticing that the stuff I buy is being shipped in increasingly flimsy material as an example and I've been building a bit of a list I wanted to compare because of course I'm going to be autistic as fuck about this.
Just a general list that I'm thinking about.
. Milk bottles with ultra thin plastic that often bend at the slightest bit of weight change, often causing a leak
. Ice cream cartons made of flimsy and thin cardboard compared to the sturdy plastic they're often in
. Paper straws(?)
. Electric vehicles that take forever to charge up and seem to have a habit of setting themselves on fire while parked
. Self-assembly furniture made with steel you could almost bend with your fingers
. Flimsy cutlery you can definitely bend with your fingers
It's getting so bad with the quality now it's something of a false economy to go for the cheap stuff anymore or we're being forced to accept these cheap products because it's everywhere now. I'm actually considering getting a proper milk jug because the bottles you get are so flimsy. If you complain of course, inevitably they're going to stick you with the climate denier label among with other things like if how you keep noticing all the shit SJWs are doing you're a racist and a sexist.
You almost have to admire the op they're running on the sophistication of it, then they act like massive boomers on a lot of other stuff.
Don't forget about bathroom fixtures as well. Low-flow toilets, shower heads, etc. Billed as "saving water" but when you have to use them 2-3 times as much just because they're fairly ineffective all it does is waste time and consumes the same if not more water.
Unscrew the shower head and faucet strainer cap and pull out that "water saver" rubber piece with the little hole in it.
Bam! Instant water pressure. I've done this in every apartment I've had.
How annoying to have designed low water pressure in the shower.
Ohohohhooo don't get me started on that, having recently renovated a house I was very particular about quality and making sure things were solid and durable just on the basis of I don't want to have to replace them for at least 5+ years.
Hell when I went to buy the appliances I explained to the sales guy who was very understanding lol I did not want anything stupid that connected to bluetooth or the internet I just wanted a cooker and a fridge and that's it. Ironically when you get something like a fridge in it's basic form it's infinitely cheaper than all the other fridges with extra crap attached to it.
Sometimes I do find gimmicky tech stuff somewhat amusing but I remember seeing fridges that had these flashy touchscreens and coffee makers in them and it was ridiculous.
But not as cheap as it should be. I bought the same model fridge this year that my parents bought in 1992- they paid $299.95, I paid $549.99 ($150 off on sale). Adjusting for inflation, that fridge got $30 more expensive in 30 years, despite now being made in Mexico, using butane as a coolant, and having lower wattage LED lighting.
But at least I could buy a fridge for that price, and not a $2000 one. "But sir, this one keeps track of what's in it!" No, thanks, I'll pay a third that much and just have a whiteboard on the front for inventory.
And when you install those in old European cities, with centuries old sewers designed for a certain flow rate, the result is stagnation and failures. I know in Germany in the summer some cities have to use tanker trucks with water to flush the sewers in summer to avoid smells.
