Unlike Jamieson Price, who openly stated he would not return voice Sado "Chad" Yasutora because "he no longer auditions for PoCs," it sounded like Wendee Lee was excited to return to the role of Yoruichi for Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War.
Except she didn't. Someone else is voicing her now.
UPDATE: Apparently, it's now Anairis Quiñones voicing Yoruichi. You know, the girl that's quickly becoming known as a racist job-stealing diversity hire. Who got heavily called out because of what she said about the casting of Gundam: Witch from Mercury.
Is this only affecting the dub side as I'm fine to stay subbed and have Japanese VAs only.
The last dub I even considered watching was Tomo-chan and that's only because they had a VA doing both Japanese and English VA for a character I really liked.
Racial issues should never affect the Japanese side of things.
especially when they do this
Steins;Gate is the greatest anime that not enough people have seen.
There’s a great sci fi story there. I remember thinking, during the nonsense involving the maid cafe, that this would be a better series if it wasn’t so … anime.
That character is actually on my list as best trap of all anime.
I actually think the English dub captures the admiration and disappointment at the same time of 'I found feminine perfection but I'm not gay...'
