Er, why ARE they getting directly involved? Seriously this ain't even close to Ukraine. Israel can glass Gaza by itself easy if they adopt the same policy of Hamas of 'they all voted in their leaders so they aren't civilians'
Which not to be a cold hearted bastard (which I am) but kinda hope happens. The two state system has failed and doesn't work when one side literally calls for the genocide of your people (which are unarmed, seriously, they should have as many guns per citizen as Switzerland given everyone who surrounds them wants them dead). So just finish for good now so it's finished.
The US getting directly involved in anyway seems like standard Biden administration overreaction after a fuck up that probably makes everything worse.
They're getting involved because the Israeli's are getting their asses handed to them. Sure they could glass Gaza, but they're not just in Gaza they're running roughshod over the while country. They've hit fuel depots, radar sites, military and naval bases and I've seen they've even been hitting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem today. Hezbollah will probably be involved as well from the North as soon as the Gaza ground operation starts.
I don't see this as an overreaction, the Israeli's were completely caught with their pants down yesterday.
Hezbollah are unlikely to unless the entire state joins them. There's a massive elephant in the room that puts a HUGE question mark on if others will join in:
ISIS
That was not that long ago and sucked up a LOT of resources and manpower, then Trump became president and they were systematically eradicated. There's still cells here and there don't get me wrong, but that soaked up a lot of manpower and resources that they might not be able to commit to another operation especially if Israel is going to lash out hard to prove a point.
Plus how much does Hamas and Hezbollah get along as a lit of infighting happens between these groups that they might be fine seeing them elimated as a regional power.
Yeah, not really.
For the most part, this is Hamas being ultra-aggressive, but mostly just doing more of what they've always done: shootings, bombings, rocketings. "getting asses handed to them" isn't even close. This is not the Battle Of The Sinai
