A child can still think they are a grown up and try to live their life according to what they think is how life should be, despite the obvious consequences being blatant to anyone and them being followers to greater powers.
While much of our history has been lead by some subversive parties steering it, a lot of women's issues (and thereby society's) is us unshackling a child and letting it try to live according to its childish whims.
