Yup, just to reinforce this but I have family members who truly believe exactly this. It stems from a trust of the system. My family members believe "the system" works and is there to do what is in the best interests of the people. The reason they believe this is they think if the government was doing things that weren't right, the system wouldn't allow for it because too many good people involved in the system wouldn't allow for it. In this way they think for the most part all mainstream institutions are good and if they ever do anything bad, it was just a one-off mistake to be corrected for.
My family members fully believe Trump supporters are a bunch of cult members that are sadistic and gain pleasure from hating others so they are dangerous and need to be dealt with like putting them through reeducation camps. My family members truly believe education saves everything and if people don't think the same as them it's because they aren't educated enough. If I suggest they are indoctrinated from their education they laugh at the idea because education taught them how to think not what to think. They are convinced the only education that is indoctrinated is anything someone educated themselves on an issue that leads to a different conclusion about an issue than their own. So north korea and Russia education is brainwashing but western education is enlightenment in their eyes.
You can't work with people who are this indoctrinated.
"You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged, and many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it."

The Allegory of the Cave is one of the truest ideas that has ever been spoken. I'll never be able to explain what lies beyond the veil to someone who has not seen, and there is no way to force someone to see for themselves, either. Existence is pain.
