Two episodes in of what will be three total. 130+ mins of stuff.
There is a grand total of one action sequence, early in episode one, that could be in a John Wick movie. But even that would probably be one of the worst in all of the action sequences of the franchise.
Mel Gibson is the main villain, but it is nothing to write home about.
The guy they got to play young Winston was a good pick. Some of his backstory with his brother is decent.
And that is pretty much it. You get to see a pair of tits, but even that is nothing memorable.
In return for this very short list of kind of positives you get to have a lot of angry and ugly women beating or overpowering men, sometimes several. There aren't really much in terms of badass men after the first episode either. In a John Wick spinoff...
It feels like they are trying to make Charon gay, but did not really commit to it. The guy playing him also doesn't at all feel like he could grow older to become Lance Reddick (RIP). There is a lot of talk, but it does not feel like they have really expanded the lore in any meaningful way. A lot of characters talk a lot, and you will care about very little of those characters and all the talking going on.
There is a drag queen in the first episode, played by an IRL drag queen, but I only noticed this in the credits.
There is probably more to mention, but I cannot be bothered any more.
It's not worth your time. You are better off rewatching any of the movies, even the one you like the least.
They are bad. There is one decent scene, but even that isn't worth looking up.
It's a fetish. People who grew up watching Josh Whedon shows and their progeny get off on seeing women kicking ass.
You know, I'm beginning to sense a theme where propaganda - I mean, television series - are lauded for their ground-breaking takes on various things such as 'grrl power' or your virtue signal of choice, only to show that buying into these lies has long-term repercussions.
Nah, probably just my imagination.
Whenever they do that I link to them real life videos of men beating up multiple other men, like this one here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUwleIBIhw8&pp=ygUTc3RyZWV0IGZpZ2h0IDEgdnMgMg%3D%3D
Or this one here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCFNvsjMs2Y&pp=ygUOZWxldmF0b3IgZmlnaHQ%3D
And then I always ask them.... "Link to me one video of a woman being a man in hand-to-hand combat in real life."
100% of the time they slink away.
I wish I still had that list I posted in a forum years ago of videos of different men of different sizes in real-life handicap fights, such as 1 vs 2, 1 vs 3, or 1 vs 5, just to show that movies depicting men fighting multiple opponents at once isn't unrealistic as people think. It happens all the time in real life. One of my favourite stories is the one of Donnie Yen beating up and injuring eight guys for messing with his girlfriend.
But there isn't one scenario or instance of a woman beating up a man bigger than her in a hand-to-hand fight in real life.
