So normally when I make one of these I post various pics from the comic but since I'm reading these on the high seas anyway I figured I'd be an extra grumpy bastard and actually link the entire thing for people here to suffer through.

Basics: It's a Picard prequel comic when he's at the academy set in 2325 decades away from any show material.
It's written by Sam Maggs. Yes, that Sam Maggs.
I was expecting the comic to be shit. I was no disappointed, the cover alone shows the modern woke trend of "diverse" characters, and why the fuck one of them is wearing glasses is anyone's guess since that's all but eliminated with the exception of a rare allergy to the modern cure which was the reason Kirk needed reading glasses.
I was expecting blatant pandering and shitty references to occur. Again I was not disappointed. Picard not only doesn't like tea [yet], but when offered it he is warned "Careful, it's hot." Oh Sam you retarded wetwipe, that line wasn't anywhere near as witty as you thought it was nor however much anyone then praised you for it.
The dumb cameos don't help things either.
For anyone wanting to further lose brain cells you can check what other works have been done by Sam Maggs. The tl;dr is Captain Marvel, Critical Role, and My Little Pony.
I. Shit. You. Not.
Thanks for the heads up. I do need to add some Star Trek comics to my collection. I have some of the 80s DC comics and quite a few books from OT to Enterprise I know what to avoid. Thanks again
If you don't already have it I would strongly recommend Debt of Honor

TOS era "comic" that's more of a mini novel as it ends up being 100 or so pages of a single over arching story that takes place from before TOS to some point after Star Trek 4. It's very much non-canon in a lot of places like the ridgeless Klingons being an actually genetic distinct group from the ridged ones, and the Farragut is shown to be a Constitution class ship rather than what the SNW show has created, but overall it's still just a very good Trek story which isn't too surprising since it's from the 90s and written by the lesbian fetishist himself, Chris Claremont.
Thanks!
I have a physical copy of this somewhere as well as a TNG story I haven't ever been able to remember the name of that involved a water planet being evacuated. Both were some of the first non live action Star Trek and Wars media I grew up with. TMP era Star Trek ship design is still my favourite, minus the Oberth/Grissom because open spaces inside ships is just dumb, and seeing more of the TMP setting in Debt of Honor was always something I enjoyed.
Also the bits with the whales were a nice feature in the story.
Whaaat? You don't want to maximise the ship profile and hull surface area so a single torpedo would do catastrophic damage to pretty much the entire ship at once? 🤔
And some people wonder why I like the DS9 Defiant so much 🙃
