Culture shock, sure, but the whole “Nordic model” is just a bit… Shit, honestly.
The whole country (that I have seen so far) feels like “Pleasantville”, but woke, and uber-modern, rather than 1950s Americana…
And the Turks. The fucking Turks here. Eugh…
Their rudeness seems more intentional than I would say it seems to be with more… “Native” Swedes.
Gonna be interesting learning to survive here. As a very “social” person, I… Certainly have some adjusting to do.
The strange mix of ultra-conformity and extreme cultural introvertedness is… A vibe. I’ll say that much.
Customer service? Ha…
What do you call a Scandinavian driving you to the coast? A Fjord Escort.
The swedes can be a very sweet standoffish bunch until you get them talking. They believe in the castle walls. If they don't know you, they are short with their comments. When you get to know them, they love to talk and tell stories.
The biggest thing I've learned is they went hardcore left for several generations, nearly crashed, and have been going back since. Their ideas of feminism is a woman wearing a black leather strap on. The political parties run day camps and other fun adventures for youth. Yes that sounds like a mafia protection racket, but they will assure you it's different.
Enjoy yourself and live in a smaller city like Svalbarg.
Yeah. The norway shooter going after those youth camps...
Yeah, that's when I was assured it was perfectly normal and not to worry about it.
