Obviously it was rhetorical. He knows the reason is it's a white man talking about a popular black Democrat. And he's talking to Tucker and not Maddow.
Then he should just say that instead of asking a "serious question"
He wants to at least see them try to come up with a logical expanation.
Asking a question forces the people who would automatically reject a statement to pause and think about it.
Ben is actually deploying a smart tactic.
