When Jane Kuhuk fled Ukraine for Greece, she said she could finally reflect on what she wanted for her future. Here's a day in her new life.
I couldn't tolerate leaving if I were a Ukranian Nationalist, even if that were the case.
I’m not convinced that loving Ukraine, the region and its people would or should translate into dying for the current Ukrainian government. Which is not to say that one would necessarily want Russia to win, just that I would be able to believe if someone told me “I love Ukraine, and I am hoping that in a decade, I might be able to do something for it, but not now. Now is just a clusterfuck of bad actors and/or groups whose goals don’t match mine.”
Fuck the nation. It will send you to the meat grinder on a whim if it means the aristocracy can hold power for a little longer.
your loyalty should be to yourself, your family, and your friends.
The nation is an extension of everyone's communities, which are the extensions of everyone's friends & family.
At least, it's supposed to be.
