I'd argue that it's more young men are so fucking desperate for any type of father/patriarchal figure that they'll go with anyone whom so much as breaths in the right manner and ignore all the warning signs.
Jordan Peterson didn't really say anything revolutionary, but he was a male figure that came across as one of authority, and a lot of people want that kind of reassurance.
