If I were writing a song about “rich men north of richmond” I wouldnt talk about obese people on welfare, I’d sing about CEOs who make 400 times their average workers salary (up from 50 times 30 years ago) & corps that pay zero taxes & offshore tax shelters for billionaires.
Why is he not writing a song then?
Plus Rich Men North of Richmond does not invalidate his point about CEOs or corps paying zero taxes.
I'd be willing to bet the offshore tax shelters are taken advantage of by politicians at a much higher rate than CEOs. CEOs tend to make their money in things like unrealized capital gains value and just ride their net worth without actually technically profiting from it. They are also with companies that tend to employ tons of people. Politicians on the other hand somehow get filthy rich from low paying public service jobs.
