This is (sadly) a "woke are more correct than the mainstream" moment.
Watch a lot of media from the late 90s/early 00s, and something feels "off" compared to today. And it's doubly weird because the aesthetics still feel somewhat contemporary since our culture is largely "stuck". But there's certain themes in shows and games made in that era that are simply off-limits today, and it's so obvious even the normie shitlibs pick up on it.
I recently rewatched Buffy (1997-2003), which was an extremely girl power heavy show for 20 years ago, and there are characters who call people retarded and make gay jokes. One of the ways you can tell a certain character is a really dangerous bad girl rebel is she has a single small tattoo on one arm.
I'm rewatching a show that ran from 08-13 (Fringe), and I keep having to recheck when the show ran. I will watch a scene and forget that the show is over a decade old, because the clothing and cars haven't changed styles.

The most significant style change in probably 15 years is the mainstreaming of skinny jeans/khakis. Those are an immediate tell something is modern.
