If even the UK won't do another lockdown again, do you really think they can get the US let alone the rest of the world?
Are they going to limit global logistics that Ukraine is so dependent on so Russia wins that war?
Then there's the growing conflict in Africa, South Africa would fail immediately if lockdowns even limited to the West happen and that coup that happened, will an invasion to 'bring back democracy' happen or will the strain on logistics no longer make that an option?
I can see Japan doing it, not lockdowns, just shutting out foreigners like last time because, convenient excuse.
It wouldn't be a phyricc victory either, it'd just be the dems having a lit torch and walking into a gas station. If anything, them doing it could accelerate efforts to bulkanize and have more rights lay at the states than the federal.

absolutely, and I have no idea where you get the confidence that the UK won't fall in line, especially since the UK is a good contender fof the most leftist-authoritarian country in Europe right now.
as for "what about Ukraine" the answer, as always, is they'll make exceptions for whatever and whomever they want. they'll justify it with some weak excuse, the state department and news cycle will keep repeating it, and normies will fall in line. dude, 2020 was just 3 years. do you have actually have trust in the people around you to revolt? even if they do, have you not seen how easily those revolts were dealt with via authoritarian means like closing bank accounts?

It's mixed from what I'm hearing, the UK is the country that ended lockdowns earlier than the rest that implemented because the public just went 'not doing this shit anymore' after all the mps partying during it came out. Ever since the UK establishment has lost more and more authority that they are holding onto power by their fingertips as shown by the amount of PMs they've had or that the police are so weak they have to do show of force on mean tweets because they can't handle serious crime.
If they try a lockdown, they'd lose the last grip of power they had. There's no way to enforce it anymore and people would simply ignore them which is actually worse than just an open revolt if the population at large doesn't recognise your authority.
