That's always the argument these days. Not an actual argument with points that could be countered. Just an appeal to authority. An authority that does little else but lie, but trust them anyway.

To be fair an appeal to authority is explicitly referring to someone who is NOT considered an expert in a relevant field. Other than that, yeah; there is no discussion anymore, just pointing to someone else to give your takes for you.
Its an absolutely disgusting state of public discourse we've been in for the past 5 or so years. People will believe anything that has a hyperlink attached to it, rather than actually critically engaging with information.
