It's the double edged sword of larger mod projects:

With smaller projects like customisation, rebuilding the castle or even making it so settlements work in older fallouts, it takes time but can be done within good time frame

Bigger projects require more investment and time and the only way you get that is with someone driven enough to do that. But with that you get bigger egos as why shouldn't they self insert when they are giving this mod away for free? Big projects go hand in hand with big egos unfortunately..
