Ubisoft to Embracer? Quite crazy how tiny little Nordic Games bought up some garbage in bankruptcy court to that being feasible.
I guess at this point I’d prefer Epic and Valve to stay where they are than caring about all these mega devs. Need to keep game development tools (e.g. Unreal) out of the big hands. I wonder if one of them ends up buying up Unity.
I doubt they can touch Valve or Epic, both have their own storefronts and can sell direct plus Epic owns Fortnite that just continues to print money and Valve makes everyone open their wallets everytime they have a sale.
It is pretty crazy. Embracer is a company that I can't decide if I hate or not because Saints Row 2022 is hard to forgive.
Epic seems to only acquire studios that fit in the Fortnite model of monetization. Although they recently bought the developer of Horizon Chase Turbo, fueling huge rumors that Epic is going to make some kind of driving game. I hope it's true, but I doubt it.
If I wanted to guess what Epic would buy next, I'd guess something that nobody will have heard of right now. Something that becomes inexplicably popular from a small studio.
Apple will buy Unity. They're already working together on that trashy headset thing.
Maybe a Mario Kart competitor? I don't know if there's already an actual popular one of those, but you know Epic could make it happen and flood it full of all their skins and crap.
EA -> Apple (I would have said Disney, but the amount of money they're losing, I think they're going to join SIVB.)
Ubisoft -> Embracer Group
Square -> Soyny
Let's see how close I was in a few years.

Steam sale was so popular this year that the Community Market crashed entirely, nothing could be listed for a whole week.
It was amusing, a lot of Counter Strike traders got scalped buying the fake price rise.

Apple has no reason to buy unity. Unity works with every platform developer, so did epic before they got in a fight over 30% on the App Store
