No argument here. I have to assume that it's an attempt to get more people to log in (and create an account if needed) to scrape more data and hope that a few of them subscribe.
I don't think it's going to achieve whatever effect Elon has in mind, unless he's just trying to drive people away.
It’s starting to feel like Elon just throws out random ideas for changes to keep himself and Twitter itself in the discourse. Like, once a week at least we hear of some new feature. Community notes was a good idea but I think he just got lucky. I imagine his lackey-employees always being too scared of him to say his latest idea is shit.
Well that will save me time wasted browsing Twitter threads.
It's an incredibly stupid change & needs to be reversed.
People need to be able to link Twitter outside of Twitter in other places like reddit, here, etc.
Trying to force people to sign up to use a site is a terrible move & huge asshole move. Not even Youtube does that.
