Open marriages are so stupid. Like, if you want an open relationship, I think that's weird, I think it probably won't work out, but you do you. But exclusivity is one of the big elements of a marriage, so an open marriage is just an extra layer of stupid on top.
When what used to be a legal reason for divorce (adultery), is now lauded as “cool” you have to question everything else you were sold as “cool”. They just play the Overton window and keep pushing.
I mean, marriage is also supposed to be until death, and we got rid of that more than half a century ago.
Its being a meaningless thing ever since, beyond government benefits. Getting mad about the stupidity now is like complaining about a cut on your thigh while your diabetic foot is rotting off.
