Every time I read news like this I get more angry about the "muh jerb muh family" line used to excuse conservatives from political action. They didn't need to do much, just let the authorities know they have to fear them as much as the left. But most people don't even bother to cast their voting placebo. Now muh family is about to be raped by pedos and you won't even be able to whine on Facebook.
Btw there was no excuse not to make voting day a national holiday before in the US. I don't know the arguments against it, probably something retarded about enabling laziness.
All state/territory and federal elections are always held on a Saturday, and have been for decades. We also have “compulsory voting” (i.e. you get fined if you don’t)…
Turnout is, as a result, usually very high.
This is still the result.
7/8 states and territories have centre-left, or hard left governments. The remaining one is not really centre right, either. It’s just a different party, but really, policy is almost indistinguishable…

I'd consider contacting my MP about this but there's not chance they wouldn't vote for it so what's the point.
