In fairness, they are talking about a vast period of history, some of which involve the mandatory confiscation of native children from their parents and communities. The US did something similar. Some parents, in some eras, may not have known what happened with some of their kids.
However, they are absolutely trying to paint this as a holocaust, and are pretending that every single person who went to a residential school is a "survivor", as if the purpose was to murder them.
What I don't get it: where are the hundreds of parents?
If 215 children actually disappeared, where are the families looking for them? Do they just not care that these kids vanished?
