Unless she's the only earner in her household, 56K is not low income unless you're in a HCOL area. That being said, the point that I assume the article tries to make stands. I've done some rough calculations for how I would fare in various European countries before, and despite "muh free Healthcare" and all that, high taxes would leave me with virtually nothing leftover after food and lodging costs. Really the only major thing I would actually enjoy is the increased vacation time.
