For a rigidly Catholic country where divorce is still illegal, they're oddly tolerant of homosexuals and trannies. Like Thailand, they're absolutely rotten with ladyboys. I think the difference between there and the US is that their trannies still recognize that your gender is fixed at birth and they're just playing dress up.
I'm actually surprised they would air a commercial like this.

My understanding of Thai ladyboys is that they're mostly impoverished men who do it for money. That's not an excuse of course, but they're not evil like Western trannies. "Suck the dick bigot" isn't really a thing there. Their suicide rates are pretty much the same as Western trannies though, especially when they age out of being able to give degenerates a sexual thrill. It's impossible to outrun reality forever on either side of the Pacific.
My wife and in-laws are filipino and this issue has confused me.
In any case, my wife has pretty much stopped watching a lot of her filipino media with a very famous tranny on. She hasn't said much about it, but I suspect the bullshit culture war here is playing a part.
It isn't like Thailand in the Philippines, because the sexual aspect of ladyboys isn't talked about. Most of the prominent gays are monogamous (or at least pretend).
I agree with the other poster who said a primary difference with the west is that the filipinos are clearly just playing dress up.
Being gay is definitely tolerated over there though.
Philippines.
