The list is mostly mainstream titles, but I appreciate that VC4 got a mention. BLiTZ is a good combat system for the WWI/WWII-era setting.
Ah, a return of the "be gay and do crime", "this game and its developers are trans" title. I look forward to its ignomious death.
It's a long list today (well done); I'll have to return after work to pick up where I left off.
You should see the AI list.
Gale looks like bad-acting and predictable jump scares meets CW script writing.
And that 'gory horror' link. The female author of the article seems like a dangerhair in denial.
I'll give you that on both. It's hard to find good horror. The first two seasons of Supernatural are still awesome.
Any list of Robin Hoods that doesn't contain Cary Elwes (the only blond man ever able to pull off a mustache) is incomplete.

PC gaming does kind of suck because the mid-range GPU prices have crept up (mostly thanks to Nvidia). I gave up on upgrading for a while and just got a Series X to play modern games.
That's probably a smart move. I need something for AI, and am using clouds at the moment.
Good old misuse of genre labels.. There's a difference between 4X and Grand Strategy, and STACS. Stellaris is more GSG than 4X, but it's a fair blend, to be honest. Endless Space 2 is a 4X game. SMAC is a 4X game. Star Control 2 is an early STACS game. GalCiv IV is a 4X game. Dune Spice Wars sounds like an upcoming 4X. GSG games are Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings, etc etc.
I can't believe PCGamer wrote something I more or less agree with: https://archive.ph/iy75L
I judge strategy games by how long I will play them. Just because it's a simple 4x game doesn't mean it will take me minutes.
That is a good article. PC Gamer can have good stuff, but the writers aren't all great or as amazing as they used to be. The Colonel for example remains my favorite Grognard writer.
4X games are in fact the most complex Strategy games, and not simple at all. For the most part. There are some exceptions though. Generally those that verge on simply being War-Games.
So... I haven't played ay hex based games because I thought they would be harder than the 4x games....
Not sure what you mean, since not all hex-based games are 4X, nor are all 4X games hex-based.
I'm saying you know more than me. I like these games, and talk about them, but am no where near an expert on them.
He's got the chops so I'm sort of interested in how he does it. The first Johnny Cage was Filipino apparently.
I stand corrected, he's Mexican.
