Twitter, prior to Elon buying it, sent an email out to accounts which hadn't put in much activity for years stating that they would be resetting it.
They sent another message about weeks later saying that they weren't doing it anymore.
This was at least over 4 years ago and was the only interaction I had with Twitter during that period and so there should be records of others mentioning it.
