That's always true, but the good news is that the more economically sovereign they are, the better chance we have of at pulling people away from the collectivism.
The difficult lesson to teach is that those groups: don't need it, and it's actually hurting them.
It's not an easy lesson, but it's been done before, including with whites.
Unfortunately by the time most are old enough to start to understand this, having left behind the materialism and impulsiveness of youth, they are already dead from random violence or saddled by enough bad decisions (debt, kids, arrest records) that they truly cannot be pulled out of the pit by force of principle or dignity.
Because that's where the lesson has to start. Not "reject the plantation" because by the time you are on it, its probably nearly too late. But to be able to delay gratification and curb desire to keep out of irreversible trouble.
Actually, I think dignity could work, but we can't do it by force.
I think the Christians are onto something if we conceptualize God as the physical manifestation of truth. You can't save souls. Only God (the truth) can. God (the truth) reveals itself to those people on their own time. We don't try to save them at all. We just stop paying for them to avoid the consequences of their actions, then we let them learn on their own time.
They can reject the plantation if we stop paying for the cotton.
Dignity won't help your felony convictions preventing getting a proper job or 2/3 of your paycheck going to child support. In fact, trying to have dignity there will simply run you ragged for no gain or endpoint and make you look like a fool. That's why waiting for them to learn the hard way isn't a really viable tactic, because they are being punished too hard to actually get the lesson, much like a child being whipped bloody. Even if those consequences are by their own dumb making.
This might work as an idea, if it wasn't being undermined by the Left from the moment it starts. Because for every guy who accepts "god" and tries to come to it, 5 more will accept the "blame someone else" that the Left offers.
I don't agree that striving for dignity will run you ragged. Striving for dignity and self-respect as a mechanism of repenting from your earlier misdeeds is probably the single best way to go. Learning the lesson requires a short-time preference reward mechanism, that's the problem, and that's why you need to teach people to focus on what's in front of them. Once you have a string of consecutive short term awards for good vision and discipline, it's the most rewarding possible feeling you can have.
I agree that a child being whipped bloody causes major additional pathologies and maladaptive behavior; but most of those are going to be risk aversion. What we have in front of us are a society of entitled, emotionally incontinent, narcissistic, school-shooter equivalents running all parts of society. Our society has no negative short term feedback for bad behavior. A pathologically cautious outcome is the lesser of all evils at the moment.
A man who accepts the consequences of the truth, and tries to deal with it is the most important person. Yes, his neighbors will try to blame someone else. But this is the point: if they see him succeeding 2 of them will try to mimic his success by mimicing his approach (the introspective and long-term time preference one). 3 will seek to destroy him out of resentment. This is why we need to teach that person who is trying to improve himself how to defend himself at all costs.
Then, the 2 that mimicked him will have the same results with their neighbors: 2 mimics, 3 resentment mongers,. Hence why the minority of the successful must be defended at all costs. Of the resentment mongers, it will be clear that they will have one of only two choices: stew or introspect. Those who stew will destroy themselves, those who introspect will come to the light.
It's a long fight, but it's a worthy fight.
