My country has a saying: "Many small rivers make a great flood".

How is it said in that tongue? And can you romanise the pronunciation?

I paraphrased ("Många bäckar små blir till en stor å") to make the meaning come across better, but a direct word for word translation would be "Many brooks small become a great [untranslatable word]". Where untranslatable is a watercourse, bigger than a brook but smaller than a river.

Romanizing, as in making it be able to be said in Swedish, by an English speaker? Then it would be "Mhongah beckhar smoh blihr till ehn stohr oh".

Creek?

Rivulet?

"Mhongah beckhar smoh blihr till ehn stohr oh".

... I think I can only say that drunk with a potato in my mouth.

There's no exact definition, as "å" is used to mean anything from a small ditch with running water to something just slightly smaller than a river, which we call "flod". In fact, we don't usually use "bäck" anymore at all, nor "Älv" (which is what the last watercourse word initially was). Both of these latter ones being specifically used up north in the country, and in older Swedish.
