This is a dumb move. Don't divide the Republicans even more. Don't demoralize them. He hadn't declared a run for Presidency until now, which was perfectly fine, but now he's doing moves towards that direction?
He should have thrown his full support behind Trump, because God knows that man has too many incompetent politicians and saboteurs claiming outwardly to support him, so much so that he has trouble fixing anything long term once elected. DeSantis should have been willing to give him advice, so that the Right could have a more united and effective front, better able to reach voters like the country's best governor has managed. And if he still wanted to run in 2028, then he could have done so at that time, with Trump's full blessings and the entire Right's good wills behind him.
I agree with the sentiment, but that ship has long since sailed. Trump has been determined to divide and demoralize the GoP for months, and will continue hammering on DeSantis in increasingly absurd ways (someone who refuses to admit Warp Speed was a mistake saying Florida had one of the worst covid responses in the country is basically parroting DNC lines) up until the federal filing deadline (and maybe after that) even if DeSantis does not run.
One of the worst things I have seen is watching some on the right brainlessly parrot the Anti-DeSantis slander spewed by lying Trump 2024 influencers Alex Bruesewitz and Laura Loomer.
Sad to see so many people on the right just are as gullible and are as easy to fool as the left.

Trump is coming at desantis from the left. It sure should make everyone think, but we have NPCs on the right too.
