It's a meme website that was very popular during the early 2010s. They were hated by 4chan and Reddit because 90% of their content was stolen from the former two, and because the moderators censored and shadowbanned users who were critical of the website. It was considered "normie cringe" the same way tiktok would be now I guess. I used to be a frequent user between 2014 - 2016. It's just mind blowing to me how much the tides have changed, where 9gag is somehow the less cringe website.

9GAG was the first meme website I frequented way back. A bit cringe but it was ok, not sure how it is now but I know they sometimes get away with some based takes regarding immigration or the Floyd riots.
Still full of leftists who think Trump was the devil and all conservatives are hateful bigots that want to enslave black people and gays.
