This is the theory going round that is so stupid, it sounds like a marketing exec came up with it so probably true:
The theory is Disney with it's Princesses and fairy tales, appealed to women a lot so wanted properties that appealed to men for more market share so bought Star Wars, Marvel etc. Once they had them, they started to try to make it so that it ALSO appealed to women for more market share, not realising they'd kill off why men liked it (it's like how coke owns different brands of drinks because a coke guy and a capri sun kid is different consumers)
Add ideological narcissistic feminists (but I repeat myself) and you have the current shit show
Tdlr: Market exec's know shit about what consumers want
I guess comic books did the same. I read older comics and it’s clear they knew who their audience was. Before I stopped reading new marvel comics I noticed so many were women discussing feelings. Eric July said that comic book companies cater to 14 year old girls on tumbler who don’t read comics.
Yep, I've switched to manga and Manwha for anything current. Mostly because of the great stories, relatable characters/unrelatable but REALLY interesting characters but also because they're not afraid to have good looking characters
I've noticed between Japan and Korea, both love the hourglass figure but Korea REALLY are about the butts and Japan are more about the thighs lol.

I recently bought my first mangas and have been watching Anime since I was a kid reading Robotech and watching Voltron
Coke's infinitely better at branding than Disney.
