This, getting rid of all three would have been the best way to send the intended message without creating additional PR problems for themselves. Not that the media wouldn't manufacture some controversy even if they had nothing to work with, but now they unfortunately do.
The state Republicans already had a crushing 75-24 majority so it's not even like kicking all three Democrats would've altered the balance of power in any meaningful way, this was all about (well deserved) punishment. And in that regard expelling the black Democrats but not the one white woman for the exact same reason both makes it too easy for the enemy to play the racism card (as they're doing now) and reeks of the pussy pass working its magic on some especially retarded Republicans.
My friend, do you think what the dems are doing are good optics? If not, then why should Republicans care about optics?
What is the point of optics anyway? To win an election? Your elections are rigged, from your candidates down to the actual votes. Even if you did get a good candidate in there, their life and their family's life would be threatened for them to stay in line, and you think they're going to pick you over their themselves and their family?
Optics is a losing tactic at this point, we're way past voting or giving a shit about what other people think.
As the saying goes, "Fuck your optics."
I actually don't disagree with you in principle. However I am of the position that as long as even the barest vestige of electoralism holds up and the Boog hasn't kicked off, optics remains a consideration, since without it we have no way of dragging anyone rightward (clearly still possible to some extent if Virginia could be flipped two years ago) or using the process to grab & hold as much power as possible on the local & state levels, which will be important to any future confrontation (aside from obvious examples like DeSantis or other blood-red state governors, John Gibbs for example gained power locally and is working to turn his Michigan town into a right-wing bastion). Even Literally Hitler and the Nazis had to play within those confines in Weimar.
At the very least we should be avoiding unforced errors that essentially do the enemy's work for them and which bring us no gain. Which is what happened here, the TN GOP didn't meaningfully alter the legislative balance of power (because it was decisively in their favor already) and now press/leftist accusations of waycism will have a little more bite to them. Doesn't even hammer the 'behave yourselves' message home because, of course, one of the guilty parties wasn't punished despite obviously deserving it.
