Batman is a mentally ill twat who by refusing to kill causes even more damage by enabling the insanity of his villain cast. Bruce wayne could push for the death sentence and have it passed in a week with his resources, but instead larps as a hero while accomplishing nothing.
Spunds like a typical leftist to me, I don't see the problem.
Batman is a private citizen who is arresting criminals and handing them to the authorities. He's doing his part. You're the one who sounds like a typical leftist when you're complaining that a man going to extraordinary lengths to help still isn't doing enough.
I mean he's kinda got a point. Batman is the ultimate conservative. Herculean personal efforts that ultimately change nothing because there is no effort whatsoever put into institutional capture. Decades of fighting crime at great personal cost and Gotham is shittier than it has ever been. A few billion dollars into 2nd amendment protections and death penalty for super villains would have solved this ages ago, but its 'not his place'.
The perfect comic version of conservatives conserving nothing and losing every ideological war while keeping their 'principles' intact.
To be fair to Batman, both the corrupt and non-corrupt police has made it very clear they are just waiting for him to "break" the law and do something over the line so they could arrest him. Gordon in many continuities points it out to his face that he would arrest him on the spot if he did.
He can't change the fact that the police themselves are incompetent and either obsessed with letter of the Law or easily paid off. And that leaves Gotham with zero law besides him and other vigilantes, who are complete crapshoots if they have any notion of betterment or just want to hurt people.
The bigger problem is most Batman works are written by idiots who just assume "no kill cuz muh morals" instead of it being a complex issue where he loses either way and he is sunken cost into this dumb one.
Guys, it's a comic book that has to keep the story going. If crime got better in Gotham they couldn't write the story anymore.
It's not that fucking deep.
