Obvious answer: institutional backing.
But I wonder why troons succeeded in garnering this kind of support while furries failed. I pull a complete blank on why. If anything, the ridiculousness of denying one's own gender is just as ridiculous as denying one's own species.
The similarities are uncanny:
- Origins in the pride/gay rights bullshit
- Delusions of self: "I am not what I am, I am what I imagine."
- Cluster effect: exposure to trannies creates trannies, just like exposure to furries creates furries.
- Insufferable personalities and overbearing self-inserting into normal spaces.
- Claiming negative reactions of the previous point as prosecution. "Literal Trans Genocide" vs "Fursecution"
- Expensive conversion to one's perfect form: Chopadickectomy vs full body Fursuit.
- Abject degenerate sexual tendencies with zero self restraint
- Subversive even to the concept of normality, seemingly proud to be a deviant.
- Riddled with mental illness: anxiety, depression, prone to violence
My thoughts on this are: 1. As others have stated the fursona is precisely that a fursona. They know they're not actually a fox. People who believe they're actually that animal, "otherkin", are a minority in the community. 2. Barrier of entry/ease of entry. The cost of those suits is rather high, time consuming, and maintaining them. Compared to just growing your hair out and putting on a skirt and calling it a day. 3. Lack of predatory abilities. Most of these transwomen prey heavily on the emotions of liberal straight women. "OMG. I can't believe you won't sleep with me because of my identity. I didn't choose this. This is the way I was born," hits a lot different than "I can't believe you won't plop down 5k to buy a fur suit to fulfill my fantasies."
