The people playing sports games don't have other games on their console. Just the latest FIFA/Madden/NBA and the previous years they haven't deleted yet.
Based on my experience hanging with a bunch of them over my life, yeah pretty much. They own most copies of their preferred sport, probably the lastest CoD (or Halo back in the day), with a lone other game for some reason.
All of them would probably benefit from EA stopping pretending its a new game and just give it a yearly DLC roster update.
