Go to Silver Dollar City, that place is awesome, has rides, and emphasizes simple living and classic American culture.
I haven't been in years but I kinda wanna go back now thinking about it.
Its entirely the characters. Most kids have a sentimental attraction to at least one Disney movie, so being able to meet and see them is most the point.
Nobody cares about the rides at Disneyword/land, you get to ride like 2 a day because of the long lines and they are barely better than any other random park.
