It's both less and more surprising when you look up just how many inventions were from the hands of Scots.
It's less surprising because there are that many so it's inevitable it would influence a lot of the world;
Pedal bikes, pneumatic tyres, tubular steel, canal design, wire rope, cordite, telephones, radar, ATM and PINs, logarithms, hypnotism, noble gases, golf, ice hockey [suck it Canada], saline drips, hypodermic syringes, ECGs, chainsaws, refridgerators, flush toilets, lawnmowers, carronade cannons, Ferguson rifles, Ghillie suits, and a lot more.
It's more surprising because there are that many coming from just Scotland.
