Yeah. My parents did some thing similar with my gay brother. They paid for his college degree, they bought two different cars for him, paid for his apartment, paid his phone, electric, and water bill. And now because my mom prays for him and tells him that God loves him and he calls her a hateful bigot and says he feels unsafe around her. He still wants money though. Hes a satanist now an has convinced my little sister to cut ties with my parents too because they're so hateful towards him.
I love my brother and I hope he comes back to the faith and our family but I wonder if my little sister wouldnt be a septum-pierced shaven headed shrew if my parents had kicked my brother to the curb sooner.
Exactly; people underestimate the stakes here. Not just for the sheep who's lost now but those he might lead astray.
So I wanted to do a lot of dumb shit when I was 18, but I moved out of my parents house for that reason. I'm sure I would have had some sort of gay contract had I stayed more than a couple of weeks longer. The month or so between my HS graduation and GTFO of town was difficult enough.
Oddly, some of my friends did all the same dumb shit while taking a lot longer to move out. I think parents have differing degrees of tolerance, culturally. It took some of them longer to move out than others. My one friend literally never did until he got married and his wife/wife's family bought them a house. probably not that unusual. Another friend spent his 1st 2 years of college living at home then transferred to an out of town school to finish up.

Damn, dude, sorry. Bleh.
To be fair, what an absolute monster! How could she be so cruel?! Kidding, obviously.
