they didn't just ban my account, they went to all accounts that were associated with all IPs i'd been on in some recent period. but because i'd been on the apartment building wifi for the pool area, and the pool wifi covers easily 60%+ of the units in the building (so tons of people use it), they hit a ton of accounts. there was a big discussion about it on our apartment forum. tons of people got banned.
all because i said "it" is the proper ungendered third person singular pronoun in english.
IP bans are a very bad idea nowadays because there are often large numbers of people on a single IP. It is an outdated tactic that should never have made it into 2023
