Yes, you are, but be careful that you don't echo the nonsense that the radical left / neocon establishment spews about Trump supporters.
Much more frustrating is his mimicking the leftist tendency to ascribe every view or position that people have a reductive label with the "er" suffix. "Trumpers" "Trump2024ers" Even if I didn't already recognize his username as someone who incessantly shills for DeSantis (whom I like, but please give it a rest), I would not be rushing into a discussion with someone who talks like that.
The group we call Trump supporters is much different than the smaller group of Trump 2024ers that we find online.
Trump supporters generally like both Trump and DeSantis but just happen to prefer one candidate over the other for 2024. Trump supporters and DeSantis supporters easily get along.
On the other hand online Trump 2024ers just vehemently hate DeSantis because some of us don't want to run Trump again.
Online Trump 2024ers are being too aggressively obnoxious and they are doing a disservice to their cause by emulating Trump and constantly using childish nicknames to denigrate all those that disagree with them.
That's a stupid reason to hate DeSantis. But I see no reason to believe that SR388 "hate[s] DeSantis". I actually have seen very few people here hate DeSantis. Only one guy, and that is his own idiosyncrasy and delusion, not at all someone to be taken seriously.
But in all honesty, I can't really perceive that you like both DeSantis and Trump. It's fine to be enthusiastic about DeSantis, and I won't begrudge you what others (in my view incorrectly) call shilling, but you can do that without trashing Trump - just like people shouldn't trash DeSantis for no reason.
The mere fact that the top two candidates are anti-woke, anti-neocon and populist is huge. Even in 2016, all the top candidates besides Trump were neocons and not populists. We should treasure this, instead of tearing down one or the other because they don't fit what we want 100%.
My primary concern with Trump as the potential nominee is that he has likely made himself unelectable in 2024 with his actions since 2020.
Most of his policies are still very good. He is just not good at executing his policies since he has a habit of hiring the worst people.
I agree that in terms of the policies of the two likely potential nominees there has been a huge paradigm shift in favor of anti-woke, anti-neo-con and pro populist.
I am very happy to see that.
Winning 2024 is my main goal. Ask the Trump 2024ers what their main goal is. Many of them won't saying winning 2024 is their main goal. They will say sending a message to the establishment or getting revenge for 2020.
You can't implement any policy if you don't win.
The Trump 2024 campaign is so focused on winning the primary they are sadly adopting very questionable rhetoric that will harm them significantly in a general.
I doubt that very much. History shows that there is no such thing as 'unelectable'. Not a game show host with out-there views, not a senile idiot who spends the entire campaign in the basement.
And I think nearly everyone here would agree with you 100%, even those who support Trump.
Far be it from me as a non-American to say what my 'goal' is, but I'd rather lose with Trump or DeSantis than win with Mitt Romney or Lindsey Graham. It's not really winning when it's folks like that.
Yes, but "winning over everything" is also a mistake. It led people to choose people like McCain and Romney. Dislike Obama all you like, but he was less of a neocon than those two.
I agree here as well. He needs to stop talking about 2020, except perhaps in passing to create nostalgia for the Trump era, and not make such ridiculous attacks on Desantis.
People tend to make up their mind about the various candidates running and then vote against the candidate that they dislike more. In 2008, people voted against McCain because he represented four more neocon years in the image of Bush, and everyone was tired of it. In 2016, people found Hillary so personally loathsome that they came out to vote against her. In 2020, four years of TDS (that both the media and Trump himself helped create) made people vote against Trump.
I think die-hard Trump supporters vastly underestimate how many moderates, swing voters, and normies have TDS and will never vote for him. Even given the choice between the corrupt fuckup Biden and Trump, they'll still vote Biden because these people have made up their mind and will not change it. That's why I think that Trump is unelectable.
