I was in an east coast VAQ squadron (electronic attack, EA-6B planes) that flies from WA to VA to meet up with the carrier, usually on a Sunday.
A girl I supervised got pregnant 3 months before we were due to deploy for 8 months in 2006, and did not tell the command until the last work day before we got on a plane to leave. This was the second time she did this, she did it in a previous squadron. I was fucking pissed, my supervisor was pissed, but, not a fucking thing we could do about it. We had to go that entire deployment a man down.
If I had my way women would be off ships and subs, and out of deployable squadrons, period fucking dot. I'd lean towards not letting women enlist at all, but I don't think that is even remotely feasible.
