I've never liked Target. They either sell the same brands as Walmart at a higher cost, or have store brands that are basically the same as Walmart's store brands.
I get that it's a classier atmosphere, but I'm not living in the place, I'm just there for 30 minutes to an hour to buy some things. I'll suffer through the weirdos at Walmart to save 10% or more.
That happened in the UK for a while. Now, having got people into the stores, they're axing the value and/or supermarket own brands for a range of goods. The only options for a increasing number of products are either branded or luxury versions. Even the discounters are doing it.

Seattle and Portland already look like that. Sadly, red states with big blue cities also look like that.
